The Best Beach Kiosks In Port Macquarie
If you’re anything like us, you can’t get enough of the beach – even in the middle of winter! While not necessarily keen for a dip, we still love to be by the water. Sipping a coffee in the sunshine at a kiosk close to the sand is the perfect way to spend a morning. With 17 (yes, 17!) beautiful beaches to choose from, Port Macquarie is an ocean-lover’s paradise. Get a front row seat at one of Coastbeat’s favourite beach kiosks.
Coast – Lighthouse Beach
Tucked under Tacking Point Surf Club, Coast is a bustling kiosk offering classic breakfast and brunch fare with a twist. Yes, you can order smashed avo on local sourdough but if you’re after a decadent treat, try a s’more croissant – a buttery pastry with melted chocolate and a toasted marshmallow smooshed on top. There’s plenty of room for the family with large picnic-style tables under the trees. The morning we visited, florist and chef Alessandra Papazzo of Osterio Papazzo was running a pop-up shop featuring beautiful blooms and natives.
Sandbox – Flynns Beach
It’s safe to say beach kiosks don’t come closer to the sand than this one, hence the name Sandbox. Latif and Trent have been at the helm overlooking Flynns Beach since September 2017. The team at Sandbox don’t just rely on the view to draw people in; they serve up scrumptious food to match their spectacular location. You can order a breaky burger or warm salad to go with your coffee or cold pressed juice but if you’re craving something sweet, indulge in the French toast. Not only does it taste incredible, it’s fun to photograph and share on Instagram!
Salty Crew Kiosk – Town Beach
It’s hard to miss Salty Crew Kiosk’s temporary digs at Town Beach. Construction is nearing completion at the kiosk’s original site after it was damaged by fire late last year, but in the meantime, you’ll find the crew a stone’s throw away in a bright blue shipping container. As well as coffee, they serve up smoothies, acai bowls, chia puddings, Pure Pops icy poles, banana bread, waffles and sourdough topped with delicious things such as salmon, tomato and ricotta. It’s the perfect place to grab a post-surf snack!
Little Shack – Waterfront at 1 Munster Street
Find a table in the spacious courtyard or up on the deck and order from Little Shack’s short and sharp menu featuring burgers, tacos, cakes, pastries, fresh juices and smoothies. Everything is packed full of local produce and ingredients. Check out the blackboard for daily specials. Open from 6am, you can swing by to refuel after a jog along the break wall. The decor is fun and tropical, so if the coffee doesn’t perk you up, the pops of colour and thatched beach umbrellas certainly will!
