Bellingen Community Markets

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, but it is probably fair to assume the same tactic works well for rest of the family, too. But for some people – especially children – food intolerances and allergies mean there are some things they just can’t eat. Most frustratingly, the foods most must not touch are often the really tasty snacks. So, you can imagine how happy Amber van Dartel and her children were when they heard about OMG Decadent Donuts.

It is a brand that has a lot going for it, but it’s what the donuts don’t have that attracts the most attention – no gluten, no eggs, no dairy and no nuts – making them safe for those with intolerances and allergies. We bet you couldn’t wipe the smiles off the faces of her three youngsters when Amber bought the Coffs Harbour franchise and started making the tasty treats for a living.

“I have been gluten-free for nine years and my children are preservative and colour-free,” Amber says.

“I attempted to make my own donuts, which wasn’t very successful, so when I found a business that had cracked the code and made the perfect gluten-free donut I explored more and found out that there was licensing in the area that no one had picked up.”

Amber has been perfecting her donut-making technique since taking up the franchise three months ago and has started selling her goodies at markets on the Coffs Coast, including Woolgoolga’s Village Farmers Market on Friday mornings, Coffs Harbour’s Twilight Food Market on Friday evenings, the Wednesday Bellingen Farmers and Producers Market and the monthly Bellingen Community Markets on this Saturday.
