Celebrate the Horses’ Birthday at the Coffs Cup 2018
Every year, just as they have done for over 50 years, avid racegoers, the fashion-forward and keen punters will gather at the Coffs Harbour Racing Club for the Coffs Cup.
Schools all close at midday, businesses shut down and a half-day public holiday has been gazetted for the region in recognition of Coffs Cup. The event is a great opportunity for locals and visitors alike to celebrate the sport of horse racing and to observe the powerful and majestic animals as they fly down the home straight.
People flock from miles around to cheer the horses on, to socialise and to entertain, with an estimated 6,000 people expected to attend on 2 August.
The Coffs Cup has grown to be an iconic part of the Mid North Coast events calendar, with trainers and jockeys traveling from far and wide to compete for the prestigious Gold Cup.
The prize on offer for the Gold Cup is over $300,000 and over 100 horses will race throughout the day. Be sure to keep an eye out for champion jockey Hugh Bowman, the rider of champion mare Winx.
So why not frock up and shout yourselves a day at the races in honour of the horse.
