The Port Macquarie Hastings Council 2021 Australia Day Official Ceremony will be held at the Glasshouse on January 26 from 9.30am to celebrate deserving locals who go above and beyond with their contributions to the community. The 2021 Australia Day Awards will be awarded in the categories of Young Citizen of the Year (16-30 years); Citizen of the Year (31-65 years); Senior Citizen of the Year (65+ years); Community Group of the Year; Environmental Citizen of the Year. The ceremony will also include local residents making their commitment to the nation as they become Australian citizens. Tickets are available via the Glasshouse by calling 6581 8888, or by visiting the customer service desk. No tickets will be available on the day of this free event. Bookings are essential as numbers strictly limited due to current NSW Health regulations.
Australia Day Pool Parties will be held at Laurieton and Wauchope pools, with the fun beginning at 11am and continuing until 3pm. Bookings are essential for both pool parties as numbers are strictly limited due to health regulations, with tickets priced at $5 per entry.
Join the Hastings Valley Mountain Bike Riders for a ‘come and try day’ at the Jolly Nose Mountain Bike Park on January 26. A variety of rides, and tours of the trail network are planned, catering for all community members, no matter your skill level. There will be the Char Bar food truck, guided tours, and free vehicle uplifting so you can ride down the mountain trails like a pro. Take your bike, helmet and mosquito spray and be ready for the fun from 2pm until 5pm. Bookings are free but essential, as numbers are strictly limited.
To be held at Westport Park on Australia Day, Hastings Summer Waves will be conducted by Port Macquarie Marine Rescue and promises something for everyone in a day packed with entertainment. Some of the activities include a seated area to see comedy, magic and the Bee Gees Tribute Band, and market stalls will be selling arts and crafts and food.
Bookings are essential for the live entertainment zone and priced at $10 per ticket.

Coffs Harbour
Coffs Harbour City Council will present its 2021 Australia Day Awards at a ceremony to be held at the North Coast Regional Botanic Garden on January 26. Starting with a smoking ceremony at 8.30am, the event will include the presentation of the awards at 9am, followed by a citizenship ceremony. The annual awards aim to recognise outstanding achievement during the past year or contribution to the local community over a number of years. There are six categories for the 2021 awards – Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Social Inclusion Award, and Arts and Cultural Award. Members of the public are welcome to attend the ceremony, but numbers will be limited because of health regulations and pre-registration is required by calling 6648 4000. Priority will be given to invited family and friends of those people receiving their citizenship and Australia Day Award nominees.
Get a healthy start to Australia Day by joining in the Optus Australia Day Fun Run at Coffs Harbour Surf Lifesaving Club. Registration on the day is from 6am, with the 2km run at 7.15am, and the 5km and 10km runs starting at 8am. Awards will be presented from 9am. Details at here.
