Great Southern Nights – Byron Bay, Lennox Head, Coffs Harbour, Maclean
Live music is BACK! 1000 COVID-Safe gigs are happening across Sydney and regional New South Wales in November and there’s one near you. Like many industries, the Australian music industry has suffered under the weight of COVID-19 restrictions and limitations. But the tide is turning, and Great Southern Nights is leading the charge as Australian Music Month gets underway. A NSW Government initiative, the series of live shows is being delivered by Visit NSW and ARIA. Australian artists and venues big and small have welcomed the boost and praised the push that aims to help them get back on their feet.
It’s time to get your crew together and buy tickets to a show or two! With so many gigs at multiple venues, the Great Southern Nights website has a handy tool which allows you to search by location and date. On Saturday night you can check out nationally treasured artist Wendy Matthews in the idyllic surrounds of the North Coast Regional Botanic Garden at Coffs Harbour. Aussie music stalwart Tex Perkins plays Lennox Head’s Park Lane on Saturday night then backs it up with a show at the Moonee Beach Tavern on Sunday night. If heavy rock is more your thing, head to Byron Bay to catch Brisbane noisemakers Waax at The Northern. They’re playing two gigs back to back so you can pick the early or late show…or both if you’re super keen! Next week sees Tim Freedman, Pete Murray, Casey Barnes, In Hearts Wake and more hit stages between Kingscliff and Maclean.
