Woolgoolga’s Annual Curryfest Comes to Town!
Prepare your tastebuds, Curryfest is set to heat up Woolgoolga this Saturday, September 28th. More than 15,000 people are expected to take part in the vibrant celebration of Woolgoolga’s unique Punjabi heritage. The town is home to the largest regional Sikh/Punjabi population in Australia and the site of two stunning Gurdwaras (temples).
Woolgoolga’s main street and beach reserve will be alive with colour, music, dance and delicious food. Make sure you arrive with a huge appetite as fresh, multicultural cuisine will be on offer from over 150 stalls.
In addition to the many food stalls, there will be cooking demonstrations
As well as food stalls and cooking demonstrations, there will be a main stage where world-class Gidha and Bhangra entertainers will perform. If you’re looking for a space to relax, head to the Nourished Earth Wellness Zone where staff will introduce Ayurveda, the system of traditional medicine native to India. There are activities for children too with rides and entertainment just for them.
Celebrity chef and star of television shows Outback Gourmet and Everyday Gourmet, Justine Schofield, will be the special guest at this year’s festival. She’ll host cooking demonstrations and be available to meet and chat with festival goers throughout the day.
Curryfest is a celebration of culture, food, music and dance
Those travelling from Sydney will have the opportunity to hop on the Bollywood Express, an XPT train experience featuring Indian food, dance and culture. On this brand-new tourism initiative, travellers will be treated to a performance by traditional Dholi drummers on the platform at Central Station before taking their seats in carriages decorated with Indian garlands.
Curryfest has transformed the streets and beach reserve of Woolgoolga for 14 years and continues to boost visitor numbers to the Coffs Coast and regional New South Wales. The festival is a Destination NSW signature event presented by the team at Another Tasty Event in conjunction with Woolgoolga and Northern Beaches Chamber of Commerce.
