Footwear Trends for Spring
With thanks to Kristy and the team at Manning Shoes in Port Macquarie, we check out the latest in footwear.
With flowers in bloom and the weather warming up, it’s clear that Spring is in the air and that means it’s time to start thinking about new season footwear.
As part of the fashion industry, we love the change of season from Winter to Spring. Retail displays become lighter and fresher, bringing us out of the Winter slump and evoking happy memories of warm sunny days wandering around Spring market stalls and mild balmy nights spent at a barbeque with friends.
We see the fashion colour palette transform before our eyes from rich, deep burgundy, cognac and forest green to lighter, brighter red, citrus and soft neutrals like blush.
Hello Yellow….
One colour that is huge in footwear this Spring is yellow. When we viewed the ranges from our European suppliers, yellow really dominated and we knew we had to feature it in store this season.
(L) Django & Juliette ‘Renard’ Sandal – $189.95 & (R) Zeta ‘Beth’ Canela Heel Sandal – $149.95
Yellow can be very versatile and truly radiates Spring vibes. Why not pair a vibrant citrus yellow with a neutral linen outfit or a more subtle sunshine yellow with a vintage floral print sun dress?
If colour in footwear scares you a little, there are also soft multi tones that are a gentle way to break away from classic black or tan.
(L) Sala ‘Sconti’ Sunshine Ballet Flat – $139.95 & (R) Top End ‘Sommer’ Yellow Flat – $159.95
Snazzy Sneakers…
Another big trend unlikely to be disappearing anytime soon is sneakers. Heavily influenced by the European shoe industry, sneakers have now become a year-round wardrobe staple for any occasion. Earlier in the year, we even saw Olivia Newton-John accept her OBE in a beautiful formal pantsuit and…you guessed it, sneakers on her feet!
We’re now seeing the Australian shoe industry flooded with options for sneakers and manufacturers are mixing it up with fun prints, textures and materials to turn what once would have been purely a Winter shoe, into something lighter and fresher for the warmer months.
(L) Mollini ‘OHoliday’ White sneaker – $149.95 & (R) Frankie 4 ‘Nat’ sneaker – $229.95
Sneakers are a really versatile item to have in your wardrobe; they’re great for travelling and can be worn with almost every item of clothing to create endless looks.
Here at Manning Shoes, we suggest pairing a classic white sneaker with skinny denim jeans and a crisp with linen shirt for casual weekend wear, or a funky animal print sneaker with a block colour shirt dress for a weekend family picnic.
(L) Converse ‘All Star Lo’ canvas sneaker – $95 & (R) Walnut ‘Chyka’ Animal Print sneaker – $169.95
